Damascene Stellenbosch Syrah '24
This inaugural single vineyard release comes from a high-lying, granitic block planted in 1996 on the prized Karibib farm.
Hand-harvested Syrah was picked over 9 days and vinified in separate batches, with a high proportion of whole clusters and gentle extraction in concrete. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine was pressed and transferred to large-format Austrian oak to mature for 11 months before bottling.
Polished and perfumed, the 2024 Stellenbosch Syrah balances black fruit clarity with whiffs of savoury spice and bitter orange vermouth.
