Proefkonyn Verdelho '25
Proefkonyn is a tiny experiment project by Franco Lourens that exists for the one-offs, the ones that sit on the fringe, and the wines that appeal to a sense of adventure. A vineyard in Stellies planted with the drought-resilient Portuguese varietal, Verdelho, lured Franco into showcasing this not-often-found single varietal expression.
Once picked and pressed, the juice was naturally fermented in two old neutral 500l barrels and matured on lees for 10 months. Bottled unfined and coarsely filtered to preserve Verdelho's natural acidity and energy.
Find notes of pineapple and mango with a finish that hints of oregano and foccacia. Best served chilled with food and friends.
